Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa) is known for its hypertensive effects in possibly reducing both the systolic and diastolic blood pressure.  It may lower cholesterol LDL levels, and help the liver detox the body more effectively. Hibiscus is also commonly used for weight loss.

HIbiscus tea can be strong to some people.  Typically use 1-2 teaspoons of hibiscus to 8 ounces of water. Steep in boiling water 5-10 minutes, strain and enjoy.

Precautions-hibiscus can interact with hypertension and diabetic medications. It might also affect hormone levels, so it’s not recommended with hormone-sensitive conditions.  Do not take if pregnant or nursing.  Please consult a healthcare professional before taking this or any herbal supplements or teas.
